Graduate International Admission

Founded in 1850 by the Society of Mary, the University of Dayton is a top-tier, doctoral-level university located in the Midwestern city of Dayton, Ohio.

An international student seeking admission to any graduate program must have completed a minimum of 16 years of education, including the equivalent of a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Coursework taken at technical or non-university affiliated institutions may not be considered for academic credit. The education ministry in the applicant's home country must officially recognize each school as a degree-granting institution.

How to Apply

To apply, submit the free UD application and required materials for your desired start term.

Once your application is submitted and all required materials have been received, the admission evaluation and review process takes approximately 6-8 weeks for most programs. However, the process may take longer in certain programs.

Required Application Materials

Application requirements, entry terms and deadlines vary by program Please review the details of your chosen program, available in your admission account once you begin your application for admission. All admission requirements may be submitted through your admission account. Emailed documents will not be accepted. Most programs will require:

Application

Submit the free UD application for your desired start term.

When completing your address on your application, your permanent address must be your home country address, even if you are currently residing in the United States. Your mailing address should be the current location where you are residing. Do not list the United States address of a friend or relative.

Letters of Recommendation

A recommendation form will be sent directly to the individual(s) listed on the application. Students may change their recommender or resend this form through the Admission Account.

Personal Statement / Writing Sample

A personal statement, writing sample, or statement of research may be required and should be uploaded to the application.

Credential Evaluations and Transcripts

Applicants who have completed or are in the process of completing an undergraduate or graduate degree at institutions outside of the United States are required to submit an official course-by-course evaluation of their college transcripts from an credential evaluation services accredited by NACES.

Evaluations are a required component since they determine how your academics are graded compared to the U.S. education system. The University of Dayton accepts credential partners closely with SpanTran and WES. Be sure to follow the steps below to secure your credential evaluation:

Spantran evaluation

  1. Submit your application for admission.
  2. Visit the University of Dayton SpanTran application for a discounted evaluation.

This application will help you to apply for an evaluation of your non-U.S. university transcripts. It will ensure that you select the right kind of evaluation report (course-by-course with GPA) and will also give you a discount on the cost of the evaluation. Once your application is submitted and your evaluation is completed, SpanTran will send an official copy of your evaluation directly to the University of Dayton at no extra charge.

WES Evaluation

  1. Submit your application for admission.
  2. Create a WES account by visiting: https://applications.wes.org/createaccount/login/login
  3. Select the course-by-course evaluation option to ensure that your evaluation meets our requirements for admission review.
  4. To ensure that the University of Dayton receives an official copy of your evaluation, select it from the drop-down box and add UD as a recipient.

If you provided a WES transcript reflecting in-progress study, a follow-up WES course-by-course evaluation showing the complete academic record and degree conferral may be required. Applicants are responsible for paying all fees for such evaluations, upgrades, as well as making arrangements with WES to send and receive their documents.

International applicants must have all transcripts officially translated into English. Both the unofficial and the English translated version must be submitted. WES evaluations do not include translation services. WES does not provide translation services.
